Doing Hazelwood proud
SPOTLIGHT ON THE ALUMNI AWARDS
Here we feature 2 alumni students. These are past students who have graduated with a first class honours degree, achieved success against the odds or who have represented their country in the sporting arena. In years to come there will be many more.
Rory Jeffers
Rory achieved a first class honours degree in Visual Communications from the University of Ulster in 1999. Rory now works with the Design Company 19/20 Associates. His work is in demand and can be seen in advertisements and promotional work for the Lyric Theatre. Rory says: ‘I really enjoy my work as it is always creative and stimulating, but I still look back on my time at Hazelwood with affection.’ Rory has designed the cover of this very magazine: Hazelwood College. Twenty Years and Growing.
Oliver Jeffers
Oliver achieved a first class honours degree in Visual Communication from the University of Ulster in 2001. Oliver has exhibited his art all over the world in such places as the Sydney Arts Festival. In 2003 Harper Collins published his children’s book How to Catch a Star. Oliver adds: ‘I have been invited to Sydney and New York to exhibit my work.’ In 2002 Oliver’s work was reviewed in The Irish News. The reviewer likened him to Monet and said: ‘The results are simply gorgeous and his work is captivating. Watch out for this talented young artist.’
