Health & Social Care (GCSE Double Award)
We teach the CCEA syllabus and cover three units:
The Course involves:
• Investigating who needs and who provides care services.
• Understanding what is meant by health and well-being, what contributes to it as well as the risk factors.
• Finding out the ways that people grow and develop throughout their lives.
• Investigating who needs to use care services and why they need them, discovering the types of care services provided.
• Enquiring how people gain access to care services.
• Investigating what care work involves, the skills needed and the values promoted.
Students are assessed through portfolio work and examination:
Unit 1: Organisation of Health & Social Care – portfolio (33%)
Unit 2: Promoting Health & Well-Being – portfolio (33%)
Unit 3: Understanding Personal Development & Relationships – written examination (33%)
