Home Economics is a practical subject which involves the study of the home and family and how we can adapt to the changes in society and Technology. Pupils are encouraged to develop skills which will help them in all areas of their lives.

Home Economics is studied by all pupils in Years 8 - 10.

In Years 11 & 12 it is an optional subject which can be chosen for GCSE.

Practical Work

We spend about half our teaching time involved in practical cookery sessions where the pupils will practice a variety of practical skills such as soup making, making cakes, how to make sauces etc. They use a selection of equipment such as microwaves, multi-cookers, food-processors, electric mixers and hand blenders. They produce a varietry of mouth -watering results which they take home to sample. Try some our most popular recepies - if they get home!
