StaffTracy Beare HOD Emily Martin Dean Kernoghan (Music/ Sound/Lighting Coordinator) Peripatetic Staff: Eugene McPeake, Wendy Weatherup, Rachelle Stewart, Maeve Duddy and Jim Cuthbertson. Music in Hazelwood Integrated College involves the 4 elements of Listening, Composing, Performing and Improvising. We also develop skills that can be carried in the world of work. Students are also encouraged to be creative through the use of Music Technology. The Music Department has 19 iMac computers which allow the students to develop their creative skills through the use of “Garage Band”, “Band in a Box”, “Sibelius” and “Logic Express”. Students have the opportunity to take lessons on drums, woodwind, piano, brass, vocals, guitar or tin whistle. In Key Stage 3 each student is taught how to read music and play a variety of instruments. All students are invited to join the choir with rehearsals taking place on Tuesday and Thursday after school, from 3:15pm - 4:15pm and during Year 8, 9 and 10 Enrichment classes. September 2009 saw a new Music Technology course for GCSE students with a brand new recording studio and state of the art audio equipment. This year 95% of the Year 10's achieved an AQA Level 1 certificate in Music Technology. |
'Oliver' the Musical took place in March 2010 and was a huge success.
