Curriculum Support was initially set up in response to the growing demand for time out facilities for students who were experiencing difficulties with the considerable requirements of GCSE course work.

In this unit the students have access to computers, coursework notes on almost every curricular subject, time, assistance, coaching, encouragement and most importantly one to one tuition in their subjects.

 Purpose

Our aim is to clarify what each individual students needs, help them to manage their time, work, effort and schedule, so  they return to the normal routine of school life, knowing that each piece of course work has been completed to the best of their ability.

English as a Forgign Language

As the number of Foreign Students grows, Hazelwood has risen to the challenge by adopting a pro-active role in meeting the needs of these particular students. We have several members of staff qualified to Teach English as a Foreign Language and a number who speak more than one European Language. We have introduced a Emersion and  Intensive Language Study course which provides these Second Language Students with a solid basis in the English Language and Culture. These studies accumulate in a test of their skills, and they achieve a number of universally recognised English qualifications. After an initial period of study they are encourage to participate in the life of the College in stages with continued ongoing support throughout their years with us.
