Mrs Frances Shannon (HOF) Miss Susanne McFarland, (Youthworke Mrs Maria Robb (Play for Peace Coordinator) Miss Aine McMullan (RAPS Co-ordinator) Mrs Margaret Adams (Relaxation Techniques). This Faculty was started about 5 years ago when we found that some pupils needed more support to help them feel more motivated about their education. We then began the xl programme, and from this the Faculty has developed to cover the wider school community. Essentially it's aim is to support the links between the school and local communities. Through this pupils will gain in confidence, experience and motivation to take part in community issues. This wiil in turn help them get prepared for the World of Work and their future career options. You will see from our list of what goes on in 'The Bungalow' that we are offering many exciting courses and chances to enrich the school lives of all Hazelwood pupils. We are always keen to try something new and many young people and adults have come up with ideas.....keep this going! |
Year 12 |
Play for Peace is a programme that is on offer to Year 12 pupils. It is a chance to work within your community to educate younger children in cross community play. There are links with 2 other schools, ( North Coast Integrated, and Slemish Integrated) and with local primary schools. The aim is to show local children how they can play together rather than fear or fight with others. For the Hazelwood pupils involved with this, there is the chance to develop their leadership, communication, and teamwork skills in an accredited course. This has been a great success and we have hosted schools and trainers from Chicago, where the whole Play for Peace idea started. |
